ANDREW: This
is the site of Dr. Benjamin Rush house site.
Dr. Benjamin Rush lived in a three-story house on this site from 1790 to
1793, a true son of the Enlightenment.
He was a physician, chemist, educator, author, abolitionist, and
politician. His treatise on mental
illness was the first in America. Rush
served as a delegate to the Continental Congress and signed the Declaration of
Independence. Later, he supported
ratification of the U.S. Constitution.
